August 4, 1969— March 9, 2026
Mansfield, TX
Valerie (Val) Suda, beloved wife, mother, stepmother, sister, "grammy", friend, and coworker, passed away peacefully on March 9th, 2026 at the age of 56 after a courageous fight with lung cancer.
Born on August 4, 1969 in Alexandria, Virginia, Val lived a life defined by kindness, strength, and devotion to the people she loved. She had a gift for making others feel welcome and cared for, and her warmth left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
Above all else, Val cherished her family. She was a loving and supportive wife to her husband, Karl, and a devoted mother to her daughter, Kira. Kira was her pride and joy. The two shared a bond that was filled with pierogies, a love for the Philadelphia Eagles, and soccer. She also embraced her role as a stepmother to Hayley and Tyler, and to her "buddy" and step grandson, Luke, offering guidance, patience, and unconditional love. Her family was the center of her world, and she took great pride in the lives they built together.
Val was also a caring sister to Eddie, and a loyal friend who was always ready with a listening ear, a laugh, or words of encouragement. She built meaningful relationships throughout her life and will be remembered for her compassion, generosity, and steady presence.
In her professional life, Val was a valued coworker at General Motors Financial, where she worked in compliance for many years. She was respected for her dedication, integrity, and the genuine care she showed to her colleagues.
She enjoyed cooking, crafting, being outdoors, hosting events, live music, her dogs, coaching soccer, volunteering for the Mansfield Soccer Association, and traveling with her husband in their RV wearing her favorite cowboy hat with a glass of wine in hand. She found joy in the simple moments shared with loved ones.
Val is survived by her husband, Karl Rutt Jr.; her daughter, Kira Babinetz; her stepchildren, Hayley Roof and Tyler Rutt; her step grandson, Luke Roof; her brother, Eddie Suda Jr.; her cousin, Mattie Kapitula, and many extended family members, dear friends, and colleagues who will deeply miss her.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Marguerite Kapitula and father, Edward Suda Sr.
Visitation followed by a memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on March 18th, 2026, at 5:00pm at Skyvue Funeral Home in Mansfield, Texas. Family and friends are invited to attend and honor the beautiful life she lived.
In true Val fashion, we will also be hosting a celebration of life Thursday, March 19th, from 5-8 pm at Lost Oak Winery in Burleson. Come enjoy snacks, wine, and reminisce on all the love Val has shown. She would have loved to have everyone together there.
While Val is no longer by our side, her love, kindness, and vibrant spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and cherished her.
