Valerie Jean Grant

Valerie Jean Grant, age 74, of Elkhart, Texas, passed away on March 10, 2026, and joined her beloved husband Butch in Heaven. Born on August 16, 1951, in Fontana, California, to Jack and Mildred Claus, Valerie was known to everyone as “Nanny.” A true social butterfly who never met a stranger, she possessed a beautiful soul that radiated warmth and light. After she was saved, her faith became the center of her life. She lived as though her days were a song, generously sharing her angelic voice with all who knew her.

Valerie was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, William “Butch” Grant; her parents, Jack and Mildred Claus; her little brother, Darron Claus; her granddaughter, Valerie; and her great-granddaughter, Kaizen. She leaves behind her siblings, Lynn Peters, Mark Claus, and Aaron Claus, as well as her children, Iva, Tracy, Clint, Jayson, Greg, Robert, John, Ruthie, Anna, Ronald, and Raven. Nanny is also survived by 25 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren, many of whom she helped raise, along with several foster children she lovingly cared for throughout her life.

Her warmth, faith, and generous spirit created a rich legacy of memories that will continue to comfort and unite her large, loving family.
