Elyria, OH
Ursuline A. Gezzer, known affectionately as Sally to all who knew her, passed away peacefully at her home in Elyria, Ohio on March 12, 2026 at the age of 105. Born on February 18, 1921 in Berea, Ohio to Ralph and Rose (née Kasper) Boone, she lived a long and generous life rooted in faith, family, and community.
Sally found great joy in tending the church gardens and was an accomplished quilter. Her giving spirit led her to serve as President of the Altar Rosary Society at St. Jude Catholic Church, while she also remained active with the American Red Cross and took pleasure in baking cakes for the annual Cake Wheel Festival. She was especially proud of being named 1950s Mother of the Year. For more than thirty years she worked in the meat department at Fisher-Fazio Grocery, later known as Giant Eagle, where she became a skilled meat cutter and wrapper and retained a lifelong appreciation for a good, tender steak.
She is survived by her daughters Cheryl (Louis) Lester, Jacquelyn (Greg) Supers, Paulette (Frank) Weaver, and stepdaughter Susan (Ed) Waggermann, along with many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Sally was preceded in death by her husband Stephen, her parents Ralph and Rose Boone, her children Dawn Simon, Ralph Janz, Barbara Coral, and John Johnson, her twin sister Geraldine Grey, and her brother John Boone, who was shot down over Italy while serving his country during World War II.
