Conway, SC

Urilla “Rill” Hills, 80, of Conway, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2026, at Grand Strand Medical Center in Myrtle Beach.

Born in Neptune, New Jersey, and raised in Manasquan, Rill graduated from Manasquan High School in 1964. She lived in several places before settling in Conway, where she spent her retirement years. Throughout her life she pursued many interests and careers, including cosmetology, social work, business ownership, and radio broadcasting. In her younger years she raised and showed dogs in American Kennel Club competitions, played the piano and accordion, performed in The King and I at the Red Oak Music Theatre in Lakewood, New Jersey, and volunteered with 4-H, raising puppies for the Seeing Eye Foundation in Morristown.

She is survived by her loving husband of 37 years, Darryl Hills; her children, Jason Sager and Sherry Sager Williams; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and her brother, Lee Edick. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter Edick Sr. and Essie Newbury Edick; her brother, Walter Edick Jr.; and her son, Richard Sager Jr.

Rill often reflected on the best years of her life as being an American Kennel Club licensed professional dog show handler, knowing Barry Manilow before he became famous, raising her three children, owning a home in Nejecho Beach, and meeting her husband Darryl. With him she traveled and lived across the country, experiencing everything from Category 5 hurricanes to tornadoes and lightning strikes that set their house on fire. She cherished seeing Mount Rushmore and the cross-country journey from New Jersey to Spokane, Washington, and back. She had a deep love for flowers and believed they should be given throughout life rather than only after someone is gone. In keeping with her wishes, she was surrounded by flowers during her lifetime. She will be laid to rest with her son in the family plot in New Jersey.
