Tully W. McElrath

Tully W. McElrath of Beacon passed away peacefully on March 6, 2026, at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. He was 86 years old.

Born on March 19, 1939, Tully was the son of the late Edward P. and Ruth Tully McElrath. A lifelong resident of Beacon, he graduated from Beacon High School and served his country in the U.S. Army from 1960 to 1962. For forty years, Tully worked as a postal carrier for the Beacon Post Office, becoming a familiar and trusted presence in the community. He held a deep love of nature and was an active member of the Hudson River Audubon Society, spending many quiet hours birdwatching along the river. He also cherished local history and remained involved with the Beacon Historical Society throughout his life.

Tully is survived by his daughter, Melissa McElrath-Bird; his granddaughters, Kaelyn Dickerson and her husband, Drew, and Kaycie Bird; his great-grandson, Everett Dickerson; and his brother, David McElrath.
