Troy Jacob KumpTroy was born July 9, 1977, in Provo, Utah. He graduated from Mountain View High School in Orem, Utah, and then attended Rick's College in Rexburg, Idaho.Troy passed away on February 18, 2026, in Hong Kong, doing what he loved most: exploring the world. A man of boundless energy and spirit, Troy was defined by his love for the outdoors and his commitment to his family. From his early years, he was a fixture on the wrestling mat. After competing in high school, he became a mentor for the next generation, sharing his passion for the sport with his children, nephews, and niece. As an adult, he utilized his skill to connect with people to create a very effective sales career and to make friends with strangers throughout the world. Troy had a mischievous grin that was infectious. He brought joy and laughter to the people around him. He loved to pester and annoy his sisters, children, nieces, nephews, and parents. He also had a very generous heart, bringing back little gifts from his various travels. An avid outdoorsman, Troy found peace in the mountains, on the trail, or out rock hounding. He summited Kings Peak three times and navigated the remote beauty of Wahweap and countless other hidden paths. In recent years, Troy took his adventurous spirit global, backpacking through the landscapes of Asia, Europe, and Africa.Troy is survived by his two children, Taylor Kump and Tia Kump, his ex-wife Mandi Lunt; his siblings, Andrea Villegas (Nelson), Taysha Bray (Jared), Koltin Stanger, and Kirstie Weyland (Tanner); his step brothers Bryce Edwards (Sherstie), Clay Edwards (Jen) and Thomas Edwards; and his parents, Ken Kump (Cindy) and Kerry Stanger (Darren).A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Wheeler-Sundberg Funeral Home, 495 South State Street, Orem, UT, at 10:30 a.m., with a family visitation at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be at East Lawn Cemetery, 4800 Timpview Drive, Provo, UT. A celebration of life for Troy will be held on April 18 from 12:00 p.m. until dark. It will be held at Canyon Glen Park in Provo Canyon, Utah. Food and activities will be provided.
