Born on March 22, 1936, in Oney , Oklahoma .Troy was a man of entrepreneurial spirit, known for his self-motivation and his drive to inspire others. He was strong both in body and mind, embodying a robust and spirited character throughout his life.Troy's educational journey began in Oklahoma and continued at Burroughs High School in Ridgecrest, CA. He furthered his education at the College of the Sequoias, earning an Associate of Arts in Police Science. Troy served honorably in the Army from 1955 to1958. During his military tenure, he was stationed in Okinawa, Fort Benning, Georgia, and Fort Lewis, Washington, where he served as a Military Police (MP).After his military service, Troy embarked on a diverse and successful career.Starting from the humble beginnings of shining shoes at the age of 10, he progressed through various roles, from a box boy to a manager at Safeway grocery stores. His entrepreneurial ventures and his desire to raise his family in Bishop, led him to open Bar B Q Bill's restaurant which he sold to his brother John. He later acquired Manor Market, Big Pine Market, Chalfant Mercantile, a hay ranch in Fish Lake Valley, Nevada, and Manor True Value Hardware. His business acumen led him to simplify his endeavors later in life, focusing solely on Manor Market.Troy was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Bishop and contributed significantly to the community, including participating on the board that built the Methodist community building. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, and gardening. He found great joy in hosting barbecues with live music for dancing, a favorite pastime he shared with his beloved wife, Susie.Troy is survived by his wife, Susie; his youngest brother, Larry; his children, Dee Ann, Kyle (Cindy), and Brenda (William); his grandchildren, Casey, Clay (Tori), Kyle (Becca), Haley (Brandon), William, Joshua, Bethany, Hannah, Troy, and Gwendolyn; and his great-grandchildren, Maci, Cooper, Emma, Cole, Lainey, Rye, Ty, and Brandon. He also leaves behind his best friends, Moe and Peggy Bell; cousins Margaret Sansom, Richard (Barbara) Sansom, and Jerry Sansom; sister-in-law Diane Oney; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by hisparents, Ollie and Beulah Oney; parents-in-law, Tom and Beryl Pierce; and siblings, Deanna, Mary Lou, Ted, and John.A graveside service was held on January 24, 2026, followed by a small gathering at the home Troy and Susie built together. In lieu of traditional remembrances, contributions may be made to the Bishop Gun Club, where Troy was a founding member and shared his expertise as a marksman and provided gun safety lessons.
