He was predeceased by: his parents, J. B. Grimes and Brenda Kaye Kelley Grimes; and his brother Danny Grimes. He is survived by: his children, April Grimes of Vincent, Bret Grimes of Birmingham, Clara Collum of Jasper and Kristi Grimes of Guntersville; his grandchildren, Hannah, Colby, Kynlee, Ryder "Herm" and Avery; and his siblings, Shannon Coggins (Keith) of Shelby and Jamie Grimes (JoAnn) of Columbiana.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, March 11th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Vincent City Cemetery (415 Florey St, Vincent, AL 35178).
