Travis Nolcox, 75, of Princeton, passed away on Friday, March 13, 2026, at Linda White Hospice House in Evansville, surrounded by his loving family. Born on August 23, 1950, in Mt. Carmel, Illinois, to Sheldon Lafon Nolcox and Vivian Maxine (Lyles) Nolcox, he earned a B.S. in Education from Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio. Travis dedicated more than 30 years of his career to the Gibson Generation Station as an Offsite Resource Coordinator.
He possessed a deep commitment to community service, serving 20 years on the North Gibson School Board while also contributing to the Soil and Water Conservation District, Farm Service Agency, Gibson County CEO Program, and the Princeton Tiger Athletics Department. A longtime member of Wayman Chapel AME Church, Travis was remembered as a devoted son, father, uncle, and friend. Known for his strong work ethic, his genuine love for others, and his cherished “sweet black Cadillac,” he had a warm presence that drew people in. Travis never met a stranger and became a father figure to many in his extended family.
He is survived by his mother, Vivian Maxine Nolcox of Springfield, Ohio; his children, Lyle Nolcox (Stacie Obert) of Hazleton and Shelley Lynn Taylor (Juan) of Columbus, Ohio; grandchildren Sean Manns, Blakelee Obert, and Mavrix Obert; aunts Zola Solomon and Wordie Nolcox; nephew Aaron Nolcox (Kristen); great-nephews Princeton and Khai Nolcox; great-niece Alanna Nolcox; and special friend Shelly Shamsaie.
Travis was preceded in death by his father, Sheldon Lafon Nolcox; his wife, Terry L. (Houghtaling) Nolcox; his sister, Colette Nolcox; and uncles Alfred Solomon and Waldo Nolcox.
