Travis Hickey ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Heer Mortuaries & Crematory - Brush on Mar. 17, 2026.Travis Hickey, age 78, of Brush, Colorado, passed away on March 14, 2026 at the East Morgan County Hospital in Brush, Colorado.He was born on February 13, 1948 in Lamar, Colorado to Ralph and Violet Hickey. He spent his early years in Punkin Center and the family moved to La Veta when he was in eighth grade. He graduated from La Veta High School and then attended Oklahoma Panhandle State University where he competed on the rodeo team.On June 21, 1975 he married Michele "Mitch" Hinman at her family's ranch in Kremmling, Colorado. They worked on and managed ranches in Colorado for several years before moving to Brush, Colorado, where he owned and operated Triple A Drain Cleaning.He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mitch; his son Jace & daughter-in-law Lana of Fort Morgan, Colorado; his daughter Travette Cissell-Wells of LaVeta; his grandson Zachary Wells of Biggs, California; and his granddaughters Piper Jo, Bentley & Tierney Hickey of Fort Morgan. Also surviving him are his brother Bill John & sister-in-law Tammy Hickey of La Veta; brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law Doug & Peggy Hinman, Jay & Tammy Ellerman & Mona Wahlert; as well as many nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph & Violet, infant sister Dixie, grandparents John & Alice Hickey of La Junta, William & Nila Dillon of Walsh, and parents-in-law, Rod & Jean Hinman.The family will gather in La Veta this summer to scatter his ashes and celebrate his life.Memorial contributions may be made to the Colorado Jr. Rodeo Assn., 17035 Co Rd 26, Brush, CO 80723 to benefit the CJRA Crisis Fund or to a charity of your choice.To send a flower arrangement in memory of Travis Hickey, please click here to visit our sympathy store.To plant Memorial Trees in memory of Travis Hickey, please click here to visit our sympathy store.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
