Tommy Joe Marchant

Tommy Joe Marchant, 76, of Milan, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, March 13, 2026. A lifelong resident of Telfair County, he worked as a diesel mechanic and farmer before earning an Associate’s Degree from Middle Georgia College. He later taught diesel mechanics classes for the Georgia Department of Corrections. A longtime member of Rockwell Baptist Church, Tommy found great joy in gardening and in the company of his family, especially his grandchildren and great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe I. Marchant and Chesterlee Lowery Marchant, his brother Robbie Marchant, and his nieces Dichelle McDuffie and Emily Pope.

Tommy is survived by his wife of 57 years, Dianne Davis Marchant; his children, Joey (Lori) Marchant and Robin (Donnan) Oyler; his grandchildren, Davis (Mary Beth) Marchant, Macy Grace Marchant, Rylee Oyler, and Parker Oyler; his siblings, Dianne M. Walker, David Marchant (Sandy), and Laura Phillips (David); his brothers- and sisters-in-law, Bo (Karen) Davis, Sheila (Andrew) Keen, Jake Keen, and Cindy McAnally; his aunts and uncles, Billy Adams and Joanne Adams, Buena Lowery, and Charlie Carmichael; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews who will cherish his memory.
