Richland Township, PA
Todd A. Koch, 68, of Richland Township, passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, from cardiac arrest sustained while responding to a Richlandtown Fire Police call on March 9.
Born to the late Oscar and Betty Koch of Quakertown, Todd graduated from Quakertown High School in 1975 and earned a degree in Civil Engineering from Lehigh University in 1983. He worked as a licensed land surveyor for 40 years at R. L. Showalter & Associates in Chalfont. His deep knowledge of local history, combined with his decades of surveying, gave him a profound understanding of the area that he generously shared with others.
An accomplished athlete, Todd began playing field hockey with the Quakertown Men’s Team in the early 1980s. He competed in the Northeast Field Hockey League and won a National Club Championship with Rye, New York, in 1992. He served as facilities manager for field hockey at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta and, in recent years, played for the U.S. Men’s National Team, representing his country in tournaments and World Cups around the world.
Todd was deeply committed to his community, serving on the Richland Zoning Hearing Board for 20 years and as a member of the Richlandtown Fire Police. He was also a longtime member of the Richland Library Company, Passer Community Association, Richland Historical Society, and Trinity Lutheran Church in Quakertown. An Eagle Scout, he lived for 41 years in the family home with his brothers Neal and Matt. He is survived by his sisters Lynn Welles (Lincoln) of Wyalusing and Jill Kostenbader (Robert) of Lehighton, as well as nieces Loren and Leah, and nephews Kyle and Evan.
