June 22, 1961— March 3, 2026
Cedar Hill, MO
Timothy Leon Payton, born June 22, 1961, in St. Louis, Missouri, passed away after a life filled with love, laughter, and quiet acts of service. A devoted husband, proud father, and cherished Pa Pa, Tim touched everyone around him with his gentle spirit and kind heart.
Tim possessed a remarkable talent for fixing things. Whether something rattled, squeaked, stalled, or simply stopped working, he would head to the garage with tools in hand. He especially enjoyed working on trucks and took great satisfaction in solving mechanical problems. Helping others came naturally to him; it was simply part of who he was.
Above all, Tim cherished his family. He found his greatest joy at home teasing his daughters, spoiling his grandchildren, and sharing laughter with his big brother Ray. He particularly loved camping trips to Bennett Springs, where days spent outdoors gave way to evenings filled with stories, laughter, and simple, happy memories that will endure.
He is survived by his loving wife, Tammy Payton; daughters Sara Brown and her husband Bill Brown, and Shana Lynn; and grandchildren Gauge Brown and Jada Brown. He is also survived by his siblings: Gene (Sheila) Payton, Barbara Payton (the late Wally Payton), Carolyn (Ronald) Read, Ray Payton (the late Joanie Payton), Steve (Amy) Payton, and Terri (Curtis) Spires. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leon Rufus and Rosie Lee Payton (née Akin).
Tim will be remembered for his big heart, his willingness to help, his easy smile, and the way he made those around him feel genuinely cared for. The love and memories he created will remain long after he set his tools down.
