Timothy Payton ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Chapel Hill Mortuary & Memorial Gardens - Cedar Hill on Mar. 5, 2026.Timothy (Timmy) Leon Payton, born June 22, 1961, in St. Louis, Missouri, lived a life full of love, laughter, and a whole lot of tinkering. A devoted husband, proud dad, and the very best Pa Pa, Tim's gentle spirit and kind heart made a lasting mark on everyone lucky enough to know him.Tim had a special talent for fixing just about anything. If it rattled, squeaked, stalled, or flat-out quit working, Tim was already halfway to the garage with a tool in hand. He loved working on trucks and took pride in figuring things out. Helping others wasn't something he had to think about; it's just who he was.Nothing meant more to Tim than his family. Whether he was spending time at home, teasing his girls, spoiling his grandkids, or laughing with his big brother Ray, those were the moments that mattered most. He especially loved camping trips to Bennett Springs, where days were spent outdoors and evenings were filled with stories, laughter, and simple, happy memories that will live on forever. He leaves behind his loving wife, Tammy Payton; his daughters, Sara Brown and her husband Bill Brown, and Shana Lynn. He was a proud Pa Pa to Gauge Brown and Jada Brown, who could always count on him for love, laughs, and probably a little spoiling, too.Tim is also survived by his brothers and sisters: Gene (Sheila) Payton, Barbara Payton (the late Wally Payton), Carolyn (Ronald) Read, Ray Payton (the late Joanie Payton), Steve (Amy) Payton, and Terri (Curtis) Spires. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leon Rufus and Rosie Lee Payton (nee Akin).Tim will be remembered for his big heart, his helping hands, his easy smile, and the way he made the people around him feel cared for. While he may have set his tools down, the love and memories he built will last forever. To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
