March 15, 1954 March 7, 2026

Lynn, MA

Timothy LeVangia, age 71, of Lynn and formerly of Nahant, died peacefully on March 7, 2026, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers after a lengthy illness. He was the son of the late Thomas and Margaret LeVangia of Nahant.

Tim attended primary school in Nahant and graduated from Lynn Classical High School in 1971. He went on to study at Northeastern University before enlisting in the United States Air Force, where he served as a civil engineer from 1976 to 1980. His service took him to Travis AFB in California and Yokota AFB outside Tokyo, Japan. While stationed in Japan, he discovered a passion for photography that remained with him throughout his life.

After his military service, Tim began a long and innovative career in technology. He worked for ComputerVision as an early pioneer in CAD and CAM systems, contributing to groundbreaking developments in computer technology. He later held positions at Outstart and IBM as a senior software engineer. Following more than 40 years in the field, he retired and worked for Lynn DCR, where he could often be found driving his Kubota along Kings Beach and Long Beach, greeting the sunrise.

Tim loved riding his 1967 Triumph Bonneville, taking it on cross-country journeys twice. He held a deep appreciation for music and cherished the friendships he formed with musicians and fellow fans alike. He is survived by his wife Leticia, his daughter Emma Tobin and her husband Cole, and his grandson Wes of Dover, New Hampshire; his sister Paula (LeVangia) Phipps and her husband Jeff of Lynn; his brother Michael LeVangia and wife Sherry of Lynn; his nephew Kevin Phipps, his wife Natalie, and their children James and Hayden; and his nephew Andrew Phipps, his wife Sara, and their daughter Vivienne.
