Thomas William Burns

Thomas William “Billy” Burns, 64, of Rural Hall, passed away on March 6, 2026 at his home. He had faced declining health since suffering a debilitating stroke in 2021. Born on February 3, 1962 in Forsyth County to James Wallace and Iris Shore Burns, Billy’s Christian faith took root in childhood through the loving congregation of Mizpah Moravian Church. Throughout his life, in times of joy and hardship alike, he drew strength and comfort from the promise of God’s eternal love.

A graduate of North Forsyth High School, Billy enjoyed a distinguished career spanning more than thirty years in the electrical supply field. His extensive knowledge and expertise earned him the deep respect and admiration of colleagues and friends alike.

Preceded in death by his father, Jim Burns, his mother, Iris Burns Westmoreland, and his stepfather, Richard Westmoreland, Billy is survived by his daughter, Keegan C. Burns of Greensboro; his sisters, Cecelia Burns Cook (husband Freddie) and Patricia Burns Hester; nieces Amanda Cook and Karen Ancuta (husband Mike); nephew Michael Hester (wife Cua); and many cousins, other relatives, and a wide circle of loyal and faithful friends.
