December 25, 1937— March 12, 2026
Cambridge, OH
Thomas W. Gray, 88, of Cambridge, passed away in the early morning hours on March 12, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his family under the care of Hospice of Guernsey.
Born on December 25, 1937, in Cambridge, Ohio, Tom was the son of E. Wade Gray and Elizabeth (Miller) Gray. He graduated from Cambridge High School in 1955 and remained a lifelong member of Mt. Hermon Presbyterian Church, where he served as Elder, Trustee, and Custodian since 1970. On January 31, 1960, he married the love of his life, Linda Deanne (Adams) Gray, and together they shared 66 blessed years.
Tom worked at Champion Spark Plug for 36 years before retiring and then served as a Knox Township Trustee for the next 20 years. He was known throughout Indian Camp for turning his garage into a community workshop where he repaired garden tractors and small engines for neighbors and friends. Generous, humble, selfless, adventurous, hardworking, and always a bit mischievous, Tom loved traveling with Deanne, visiting 48 of the 50 states. He cherished time outdoors, followed NASCAR racing as a devoted fan of Dale Earnhardt, and was quick with a warm hug.
Above all, Tom’s greatest joy was the time spent with his family. He looked forward to visits and calls from his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, especially the dinners filled with good food and fellowship. In his final days, he found comfort surrounded by them, sharing stories and memories of days gone by.
He is survived by his wife, Deanne; his son, Steven L. (Traci) Gray; his daughter, Trudy (Roger) Nelson; grandchildren Jarrod (Kelsey) Gray, KaraLin (Brandon) Hatfield, Katelyn (Jonathan) Colvin, Madison Leach, Melinda (Matt) Hart, Wade Nelson, and Katy (Morgan) Dougherty; great-grandchildren Trevon, Mariska, Aniya, and Scarlet Gray, Bennett Hatfield, Kyah and Finnley Colvin, Weston and Wyatt Hart, and one great-grandchild due this fall; along with his brother-in-law Jim Douglas, sisters-in-law Jean Thornsley, Irene Ross, and Kathy Leach, special cousin Marjorie Ankrum, and many other family members, friends, and neighbors.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Shirley J. (Gray) Douglas, and his brother William C. Gray.
