Thomas W. Bedwell

Thomas W. Bedwell, 86, of Medicine Lodge, passed away on March 14, 2026, at Kansas Heart Hospital. Born on January 21, 1940, in Wichita Falls, Texas, to Robert W. and Mary (Wilson) Bedwell, he graduated from Medicine Lodge High School in 1958. In 1975, he married Barb Bedwell, and they shared 50 years of marriage.

Thomas owned and operated the Medicine Lodge Sales Company for nearly 30 years. He later continued buying cattle for customers and managing a grower yard. A longtime member of the Medicine Lodge Methodist Church, he also served as president of the Peace Treaty board and on the Co-op board and RWD #1. He found great joy in farming, cutting wheat, running machinery, hunting, and attending the ball games of his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Barb Bedwell; sons, Thomas Patrick (Anita) Bedwell of Lake City and Ryan Thomas (Emerald) Bedwell of Medicine Lodge; daughters, Lori Beth (Greg) Pennock of Medicine Lodge and Holly Dale (Eric) Bannister of Wichita; grandchildren, Shane (Lacey) Bedwell, Megan (Brad) Mattison, Matthew Hargett, Ethan (Aaliyah) Hargett, Grace Bedwell and Danielle Bedwell; great-grandchildren, Cealy Bedwell, Chisum Bedwell and Whitney Mattison; and step-children, Cory Bieber, Joeleen (Charles) Akin and Darcy (CR) Clinton, along with their children. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert W. Bedwell, and his mother, Mary Elizabeth Hall.
