Thomas “Tommie Jr.” Houston, Jr., age 76, of West Point, Georgia, passed away on January 25, 2026, at Piedmont Newnan Hospital in Newnan, Georgia, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born on March 9, 1949, in Atlanta, Georgia, to the late Thomas Houston Sr. and the late Rosie B. Wallace, Tommie Jr. accepted Christ at an early age at Galilee Missionary Baptist Church in Opelika, Alabama. He remained a faithful member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in West Point and served devotedly in the men’s ministry throughout his life.

In his early twenties, he moved to Chicago, Illinois, where he met and married Fern Houston. Their loving marriage of 46 years was marked by deep devotion and partnership. He later returned to West Point, where he continued to center his life around family, faith, and service. A dedicated worker, Tommie Jr. was employed with Interface for more than 20 years before retiring in 2020. In retirement, he lovingly cared for his mother until her passing in 2025, demonstrating his steadfast loyalty and compassion. Those who knew him will remember his warm laughter, generous spirit, and willingness to help others.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Willie B. Houston; grandsons, Jonathan L. Morris and Jeremiah Douglas; and stepbrothers, K.C. Jones Jr., Jesse Jones, Walter Jones, Tommy Jones, Otis Jones, and stepsister, Eliza Ann Jones.

Tommie Jr. is survived by his wife, Fern Houston of West Point, Georgia; his son, Jermaine Houston of West Point, Georgia; his daughters, Tolandra Douglas of Toledo, Ohio, Angela Houston of West Point, Georgia, and Sherrondolyn (Jeffrey) Dawson of West Point, Georgia; two brothers, Rogers (Laverne) Houston of Riverview, Alabama, and William (Allison) Jones of Lanett, Alabama; one sister, Brenda (Leonard) Truitt of West Point, Georgia; his mother-in-law, Gertie Corner of West Point, Georgia; one brother-in-law, William (Venita) Black of Clarendon, Arkansas; three stepsisters, Ruby Jones of Valley, Alabama, Dorothy Jones of Lanett, Alabama, and Deborah Chambers of Columbus, Georgia; one uncle, Walter (Teressa) Wallace of West Point, Georgia; one aunt, Mattie Streeter of Orlando, Florida; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
