Thomas Robinson

Thomas “Tom” Robinson, 77, of Downers Grove, Illinois, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2026. Born on June 25, 1948, in Chicago, he lived a life defined by quiet dedication to his family, his work, and the people and animals he loved.

Tom spent fifty years at AFI Industries, beginning as a headerman and advancing to Vice President of Manufacturing. His strong work ethic and steady leadership earned him the lasting respect of colleagues throughout his long career.

Above all, Tom cherished his family. He is survived by his wife, Margie Shelton; his daughters Sharon (James) Ziegler, Stephanie (Kameron) Dorsey, and Jennifer (Mark) Kearns; his stepson Aaron Shelton; and his brother Robert Robinson. He was a proud grandfather to Sara Ziegler, Katy (TJ) Romack, Skylar Dorsey, Fiona Kearns, Megan Kearns, Abigail Kearns, Colleen Kearns, and Ava Shelton. He was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Teresa Robinson, and his brothers Rick Robinson and Jeffrey Robinson.

Those who knew Tom will remember his humor, his loyalty, and his deep love for animals. He was a man who would do anything for his family, and his devotion remains the clearest measure of the care he gave throughout his life.
