Thomas Black ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Ryan Funeral Home and Crematory on Mar. 10, 2026.Thomas (Tom) Robert Black of Trenton, Georgia, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, March 03, 2026.He was preceded in death by his parents, James Harold and Helen Agnes Dedmon Black; two brothers, James Edward and Ralph Winton Black; an infant sister, Shirley Ann Black; paternal grandparents Robert Matthew and Mary Jessie Ellen Williams Black; and maternal grandparents John Thomas (JT) and Margaret (Maggie) Catherine Ivey Black.Tom was born in Chickamauga, Georgia. He grew up in Ringgold, Georgia, where he attended Ringgold High School, graduating in 1962. He served 4 years in the US Air Force where he was stationed at MacDill AF Base in Tampa, Florida, for 3 years and one year at Iraklion Air Station in Crete, Greece. He later attended Dalton College and The University of Georgia where he received a BS and Masters degree in Vocational Agriculture. Tom is survived by his dear wife Verda (Alice) Boydston-Black, two sons, James Harold (Tad) Black, Thomas (Andrew) Black, and Andrew's mother, Kay Moreland Hargett. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Tom had big as life personality and a great sense of humor. He was a builder of both homes and hearts. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.
