He was a devoted husband, proud father, skilled builder, and a man who valued hard work, loyalty, and family above all else.Born on December 15, 1943, in Springfield, Illinois, Tom grew up on a cattle farm where he learned the value of hard work early in life. He showed cattle, pigs, and even sheep, building the grit and discipline that would define him for years to come.In 1962, Tom moved to Florida, where he began working in construction alongside his uncle. He quickly developed a deep respect for the craft and the discipline it required. Over the years he built his skills and his reputation, later receiving his contractor's license on February 19, 1981. Skilled, steady, and detail-oriented, he took immense pride in his work, building not only homes but a reputation for reliability and quality.Tom met Marlene through a mutual friend and knew instantly she would be his wife. That certainty stayed with him for the rest of his life. They were married on January 12, 1974, beginning a marriage that would span 52 years and be built on loyalty, strength, and unwavering commitment. Marlene was the love of his life and his steady partner through every chapter that followed. Together they built a life grounded in family, resilience, and devotion, standing side by side through the years with the quiet strength that defined their relationship.On August 11, 1975, they welcomed their son, Jason Scott Elliott. From that day forward, being a father became one of Tom's greatest roles. He later shared his trade with Jason, and the two worked side by side for 35 years. There was no closer bond than that of this father and son. Tom and Jason were inseparable, and those who knew them came to expect that where you saw one, the other was never far behind. What they built together went far beyond construction - it was partnership, respect, laughter, and a deep, unspoken friendship. This duo loved nothing more than spending time together - talking, working, and sharing life side by side.He loved to tease and make people laugh. He was kind and generous to those he loved, talented, skilled, loving, and thoughtful. He wasn't afraid to speak his mind. He was steady. He was strong. And he was deeply loved.He is survived by his wife, Catherine "Marlene" Elliott; his son, Jason Elliott, and daughter-in-law, Lacey Elliott; and his beloved grand-puppy, Dozer, who he adored.In accordance with his wishes, no services will be held.
