Thomas Michael Fogle

Mike Fogle, aged 75, died on March 4, 2026 after a 9 month battle with liver cancer.

Born Dec 13, 1950, he was the last of 6 kids born to Charles and Eva Fogle. He joined the US Army when he was 18 and went to Vietnam. He was a construction engineer and when his first sergeant asked if he could drive, he said, “Sure.” He failed to mention he didn’t have a driver's license. He was sent to bring back a large flatbed truck with a bulldozer. Driving back to the compound, he was getting the hang of all the gears and not paying attention to the road. He went through the compound gate at a high rate of speed and when trying to stop the truck, he took out the sauna that had been built for the platoon. Luckily, no one was hurt. This started a 20 year career.

He did tours of duty in Germany, Belgium, Denmark, Korea, the Presidio at San Francisco, Washington DC, and Fairbanks, Alaska, among other places. After flunking retirement, the Fogle family moved to Los Alamos for his 2nd career with Los Alamos National Laboratory. His background in engineering and construction led him to believe he could fix anything! Sadly, this was not the case and can be proven by the number of radios he tried installing in family cars that have lived in the garage for years.

He had three loves in his life: golf, the Baltimore Ravens and family…in that order!

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Gayla, daughter Blythe, sister Catherine Lally of Bel-Air, MD, sister Joan Fleischer of Oceanside, CA, and brother Dickie Fogle of York, PA and their families.

We are deeply appreciative of the loving care he received from Roadrunner Hospice and our incredible neighbors and dear friends who were always willing to help. The family will have private funeral services at Santa Fe National Cemetery, per Mike’s request.
