Thomas Leroy Eden

Thomas Leroy Eden, 82, of Hartford, passed away on March 15, 2026, at Beaver Dam Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born on March 29, 1943, in Pride, Kentucky, to the late Roy Veston and Violet Hall Eden, Tom lived a life marked by hard work, quiet skill, and deep devotion to family and faith.

A longtime member of Hartford Second Baptist Church, Tom retired from Estes Express, where he worked as a freight coordinator, and from the Kentucky State Highway Department. Earlier in his career he was a coal miner, serving as past president of the UMWA and remaining a member of the Teamsters Union. He took great pleasure in antique cars, was a skilled carpenter, and enjoyed playing the guitar. Many will remember his regular mornings spent at Hardee’s sharing coffee and conversation with friends.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Rita Annis Eden; his son, Mark (Carla) Eden; his niece, Amy Jane (Jim) Jared; and his nephews, Robert “Bob” (Jessica) Annis and Benjamin Annis.
