Thomas Kochendoerfer

Thomas E. Kochendoerfer, 58, of Leesburg, Virginia, and formerly of Clyde, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at Lansdowne Heights Memory Care Center in Leesburg.

Born on June 8, 1967, in Ohio, Tom was the son of Patricia Ann Kochendoerfer. He was raised with deep affection by his grandmother, Katherine Kochendoerfer, and his aunt, Kathryn Spence. Lieutenant Colonel Tom served honorably in the United States Air Force for twenty-seven years, retiring in 2018. During his distinguished career, he served as an instructor and earned numerous medals, badges, and awards. In addition to his military service, he earned a Master’s degree in education and found great joy in coaching multiple sports. A lifelong supporter of his home state’s teams, he remained especially devoted to Ohio State Football and the Cleveland Browns.

He is survived by his sons, Spencer Kochendoerfer of Washington and Gavin Kochendoerfer of Virginia; his former spouse, Sheri Kochendoerfer of Washington; his aunt, Kathryn Spence of Ohio; and his sister, Michelle Kochendoerfer of Arizona. Tom was preceded in death by his mother and grandmother.
