Thomas Hoyt Williams

Thomas Hoyt Williams passed away peacefully at the age of 90 in his home in Newark, Delaware, on March 9, 2026. Born on September 30, 1935, to Raymond Williams and Leona Woodward Williams, Tom graduated from Seaford High School in 1953 before serving four years in the U.S. Air Force. He later earned a B.S. in Agriculture and a Master of Electrical Engineering from the University of Delaware. A registered Professional Engineer, he remained a lifetime member of the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers.

Tom devoted 28 years of his career as a Cooperative Extension specialist in agricultural engineering at the University of Delaware, retiring in 1994. He found great pleasure in reading, gardening, traveling, fishing, and model railroading throughout his life.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 59 years, Charlotte Ann (Pepper) Williams, as well as his parents. Tom is survived by his daughter, Jane Williams Moore; his granddaughter, Pamela Hoyt Moore; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jack and Joyce (Pepper) Hildreth; one niece; and five nephews.
