Thomas G. Gardner, 76; of Scriba, NY. It is with great sadness that after a courageous 15-year battle with cancer Tom passed on Friday, March 6th, 2026. He was born in Potsdam, NY to the late Maurice and Sharleen (Zeutzius) Gardner. Tom was a man of integrity, kindness and patience. He was a United States veteran having served six years in the Navy. Later he retired after working for 30 years as a Control Room Shift Operator at Nine Mile Unit One. Tom took great pride in his career and hobbies. He crafted countless cabinets, furniture, and built and remodeled his own home. Tom was pre-deceased by his sister: Sandra Fox. He is survived by his devoted life partner of 24 years: Theresa Chalone of Scriba, NY, his children: Andy (Betty) Gardner of Fulton, Julia Gardner of FL, his siblings: Stuart Gardner of Canton, NY and Charles Gardner of Penfield, NY; his grandchildren: Emily and Andrew; and his bonus brother: Scott Vincent Barwood. He is also survived by his supportive extended family: the entire Chalone Family, his furry companions: Elsa and Mia, and all his dear friends at Fair Point Marina where he spent summers sailing on Lake Ontario. The family would like to sincerely thank: Dr. Christopher Pieczonka of AMP Urology, Dr. Sam Benjamin at Upstate Cancer, the team at Moffit Cancer and everyone who worked so hard to find additional treatments that would give Tom the chance to live one more day, month and year. Calling Hours will be held 1:00 to 3:00 PM Tuesday at the Sugar & Scanlon Funeral Home, 147 W. 4th St., Oswego, NY. A Moment of Reflection will begin at 3:15 in the funeral home. Burial will be held privately in Warsaw Cemetery, Warsaw, NY.
