Thomas "Tom" Ezzolo

Thomas "Tom" Ezzolo

Hawthorne, CA

Thomas “Tom” Walters Ezzolo, 85, of Hawthorne, California, passed away on February 22, 2026, after a brief illness. Born on September 2, 1940, in Olean, New York, he was one of seven children of the late Joseph and Mary Helen Dubetsky Ezzolo and grew up in Duke Center. After graduating from Otto-Eldred High School in 1958, Tom moved to California, where he met and married the love of his life, Sharon Marie Timmsen. The couple settled in Hawthorne and raised two sons together during their 51-year marriage. Sharon preceded him in death in June 2021.

Tom began his career as an aerospace engineer with McDonnell Douglas at the Long Beach, California, facility shortly after moving to Hawthorne. A devout Roman Catholic, he took great pride in his sons’ accomplishments and cherished the meals and visits they shared over the years. He was an avid golfer and skilled pool player, known for being a good listener, staying engaged with current events, living frugally, and finding humor in almost any situation.

He is survived by his sons, Joseph (Suzette) Ezzolo of Long Beach and John Ezzolo and his partner, Michele, of San Pedro, California; brothers Daniel (Debi) Ezzolo and David (Patti) Ezzolo; sister Catherine (Jim) Gocella; numerous nieces and nephews; longtime friends; and his beloved trio of pet cats. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by one sister, Joan Coast, and two brothers, Joseph Dean Ezzolo and Robert C. Ezzolo.

Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
