Coeur d'Alene, ID

Thomas Edward Sharbono, known lovingly as Papa Tom, passed away on March 7, 2026, at the age of 78. Born on January 13, 1948, in Devils Lake, North Dakota, he married Kris in 1980 and shared 45 devoted years with her in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, where they raised two children and became deeply involved in their community and youth athletics.

A former educator and salesman, Tom was remembered for his generous spirit and the legendary ice cream parties he hosted for students. He found joy in simple pleasures—taking walks, picking up cans with his golden retrievers Izzy and Henry, hunting pheasants, and fishing for halibut in the waters of Alaska, a place that held special meaning for him. Yet nothing brought him greater happiness than his family. He delighted in spoiling his grandchildren, helping with math, keeping watch on “hair patrol” after baths, and treating them to breakfast at Jack in the Box. He rarely missed a game or event, always cheering loudly for his grandchildren and their friends in both academics and sports.

Tom is survived by his wife, Kris Sharbono; his son and daughter-in-law, Kip and Erica Sharbono; his daughter and son-in-law, Dr. Kai Sharbono and Dr. Eric Cohen; and his beloved grandchildren, Beckham, Knox, Finn, and Banks. His family will carry forward the warmth of his love, his steady encouragement, and the many memories of bacon breakfasts, long walks, and unwavering support that defined his life. A small family gathering will be held to spread his ashes in the places he cherished most.
