Thomas Curtis Rice

Thomas Curtis Rice, age 78, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2026, at the Richard Campbell Nursing Home in Anderson, South Carolina, surrounded by his loved ones.

Born on May 18, 1947, to the late Elise and Thomas Rice, Curtis was raised in Laurens County and was a lifelong member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Clinton, South Carolina. A 1968 graduate of Bell Street High School, he went on to serve his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He later enjoyed a long career as a Locomotive Engineer with CSX Transportation, from which he retired.

Curtis will be deeply remembered and lovingly held in the hearts of his brothers, Frederick Michael Rice and Roland Glen Rice; his cousins who were raised like sisters, Shirley Mims and Sara Suber; his nieces, Patreece Shunell Rice, Destiny Renee Williams, Lisa Rice, Poetry Edwards, Larisha Blakely Thompson, and Michel'e Rice; his aunts, Carrie Davis Gilliam and Thelma Rice Mattox; and many other devoted relatives and friends.

He was laid to rest in the cemetery at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Clinton, South Carolina.
