Theresa Legotte, 84, of Jackson, New Jersey, passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at Ocean Medical Center. Born on April 11, 1941, in Brooklyn, New York, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Josephine Rizzo. Raised in the Bay Ridge section of Brooklyn, Theresa graduated from New Utrecht High School, where she later met the love of her life, Richard Legotte. The couple married and began their life together in Brooklyn before moving to the Bay Terrace community on Staten Island, where they raised their three sons.
Theresa devoted herself to her family, creating a warm and loving home for her boys. She had a deep passion for gardening and was an active member of the local garden club while living on Staten Island. She also cherished summers spent with her family at the Great Kills Swim Club. After settling in Jackson, New Jersey, she became involved with the Jackson Senior Club. Theresa loved to dance, especially to the music of the 1950s, but nothing brought her greater joy than being surrounded by her family.
Predeceased by her beloved husband Richard and her brother William Rizzo, Theresa is survived by her loving sons, William and his wife Dominique, Lenny and his wife Linda, and Richie and his wife Michelle; her cherished grandchildren, Anthony and his wife Julie, Dominick and his fiancée Emily Baum, Carina and her fiancé Joseph Villanueva, and Vincent; and her adored great-grandchildren, Rylie and Nico. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
