Theophilus Walton Clapp Jr.

Theophilus Walton Clapp Jr. of Marion, North Carolina, passed away on March 17, 2026, at the age of 101. With his vibrant spirit and warm presence, he touched the lives of many over the course of his long and full life.

He was predeceased by his parents, Rev. T. W. Clapp and Nell Kesler Clapp; his former wife, Vashti Dulin Clapp; and his daughter, Katherine Marie Clapp. He is survived by his wife, Catherine Barrett; his children, T. Walton Clapp III (Betty) of Raleigh, Rebecca Taylor (Ray) of Spruce Pine, and Anne Brown (William) of Nebo; and his sister, Jean Isaacs of Franklin, Tennessee. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

Theophilus will be remembered for the steady love and quiet strength he brought to his family and community throughout his century of life.
