Father Theodore “Ted” Crosby, age 55, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, in West Chazy, New York.

Born on March 12, 1970, in Clifton Springs, New York, to the late Theodore and Margaret Maslyn Crosby, Ted graduated from Midlakes High School in 1988 and from St. John Fisher College before entering Wadhams Hall Seminary in Ogdensburg. He was ordained a priest and devoted his entire ministry to the North Country, serving parishes in Lowville, Malone, Watertown, Lyon Mountain, Ellenburg, Chazy, and West Chazy. He loved being a priest and found great joy in his pastoral work.

Ted was a devoted fan of Hank Williams and held a deep interest in Civil War history. He also cherished animals, especially his beloved dog Molly. He is survived by his sister, Tammy Crosby of Phelps; aunts Barbara Maslyn of Clifton Springs, Joanne Maslyn of Farmington, Betty Gordner of Seneca Castle, and Jane Crosby of Geneva; and many cousins.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, March 16, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis Church in Phelps, with burial in St. Francis Cemetery. A Memorial Mass will take place on Friday, March 27, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church in West Chazy. Memorial donations may be made to the Potsdam Humane Society, 17 Madrid Avenue, Potsdam, NY 13676.
