Thelma Louise Thoroughman Bloomfield

Thelma Louise Thoroughman Bloomfield, age 93, of Garrison, Kentucky, passed away on Monday, March 9, 2026, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

Born on March 12, 1932, in Lewis County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin A. and Rosa Fetters Thoroughman. A woman of deep Baptist faith, Thelma found great joy in attending church. She was known for her skillful quilting, her love of canning, and tending a large garden, but above all she cherished caring for her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Bloomfield; one great-granddaughter, Brittney Burriss; nine brothers; and three sisters.

Thelma is survived by her three sons, Wendell (Donna) Moore of Tollesboro, Kentucky, Jerry Thoroughman of Garrison, Kentucky, and Handford (Debra) Thoroughman of South Shore, Kentucky; two daughters, Kathy Howard of Quincy, Kentucky, and Billie (Dennis) Ray of Bucyrus, Ohio; 14 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 26 great-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Delbert (Georgetta) Thoroughman of Vanceburg, Kentucky, Donald Thoroughman of Bucyrus, Ohio, and Eddie (Laura Mae) Thoroughman of Salt Lick, Kentucky; one sister, Nannie Jane Hobbs of Kentucky Heights, Kentucky; and many other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.
