Terry Owen Haller
February 19, 1942— March 4, 2026
Highland, IL
Terry Owen Haller, age 84, of Highland, Illinois, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2026, at Cedarhurst of Highland. Born on February 19, 1942, in Highland, he was the beloved son of the late Edgar and Dorris (Hug) Haller.
On July 4, 1964, Terry married his childhood friend and the love of his life, Lynn Knabel. Their bond began in Sunday School at the age of two and grew into a steadfast partnership that lasted more than 61 years. Together they built a life filled with treasured memories, shared adventures, and quiet moments of joy.
A 1960 graduate of Highland High School, Terry worked as an electrician before completing an apprenticeship as a Tool and Die Maker at Jakel Manufacturing. He later honed his craft at Chelar Tool and Die in Belleville, helped construct a coal mine for Korte Construction in Albers, and spent the final decades of his career at McDonnell Douglas, now Boeing, retiring in 2007. Deeply committed to his community, he was an active member of the Evangelical United Church of Christ, serving on the Consistory and as a Director for Faith Countryside Homes, and participating in Bethlehem Revisited. He also belonged to the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers and the Highland Pistol & Rifle Club. A longtime Boy Scout leader, Terry loved jeeping, camping, hunting, canoeing, and making deer sausage. In later years he became an avid sports fan, but nothing brought him greater happiness than time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Terry is survived by his children, Tad O. (Lisa) Haller of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and Amy Frohn of Aviston, Illinois; grandchildren Abigayle M. (Benjamin) Hahn, Cody S. (Makayla) Frohn, Catherine R. (Nicholas) Osborn, Kristen L. (Emme McElveen) Haller, and Zane C.O. Frohn; great-grandchildren Braylon, Leni, and Noa Frohn; sisters Donna Korte of Highland and Cheryl (Stephen) Porter of Edwardsville; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Lynn, his granddaughter Mary Grace Haller, his son-in-law Steven Frohn, his parents, his in-laws Alvin and Grace (Zobrist) Knabel, and his brother-in-law Ralph Korte.
