Terry Lynn Haynes Obituary February 25, 2026 - Legacy.com

Gainesville, FL

Terry Lynn Haynes, 64, of Gainesville, Florida, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2026, after a short battle with cancer.Terry was born on November 24, 1961, at Alachua General Hospital in Gainesville, Florida, to Doug and Erma Haynes. He was the proud grandson of Berry and Jewell (Sache) Driggers of Gainesville, Florida, and Wyatt and Ida (Short) Haynes of Cordova, Alabama.A lifelong Gainesville native, Terry attended Lake Forest Elementary School, Lincoln Middle School, and later Southside Baptist and Countryside Baptist Schools, where he played football and formed friendships that stayed with him throughout his life.Terry was the proud father of four children, Tara, Loree, Faith, and Terry "Landon," who were the center of his life. After his final position with Gainesville Regional Utilities, Terry had the privilege of being a stay at home father to Faith and Landon, a role he cherished deeply.A true Florida boy at heart, Terry loved the sunshine, the water, and the sand. He was happiest with a cold drink in one hand, a fishing rod in the other, country music playing, and something on the grill. If you knew Terry, you knew his love for fishing. He was truly a fishing fool. His proudest catch was a 13.8 pound largemouth bass from Hickory Pond in Waldo, Florida, a story he never tired of telling. He was known by many friends as T-bone.Terry always knew Christ as his Lord and Savior, but in his later adult years his faith grew even deeper. He took his role as a father seriously, with a heartfelt mission to lead his children to Christ and live as an example of faith, perseverance, and love.Terry is survived by his four children, Tara, Loree, Faith, and Landon, his siblings, Cameron and Lisa, his grandchildren, Zach, Alex, Mattis, Lucy, and Jack, his nephews, Austin and Erik, and his best friend, Becky Griffin.A celebration of Terry's life will be announced at a later date.
