Terry Lee Kingsbury

Terry Lee Kingsbury, age 57, passed away at Bronson Hospital on March 7, 2026, from a major heart attack that occurred the day before. He had three stents placed in his heart last year and had also dealt with cellulitis in his leg, colitis, and bouts of alcoholism. Terry frequently participated in AA meetings.

Terry was a very good mechanic and helped many people with their vehicles. He had the biggest heart and was always helping others. He loved his wife, children, grandchildren, and his dog Luna. He also loved big trucks, including his own, drag racing, stick car racing, hockey, the Detroit Red Wings, and was a Michigan fan. Terry also enjoyed going to get his mother-in-law scratch-off lottery tickets.

Throughout his working life, Terry worked as a mechanic fixing autos, did snow plowing, landscaping work, worked for a period at Paris Cleaners, and also did road construction.

Terry attended Portage High School and later Portage Adult Education. He spent most of his time living and working in the greater Kalamazoo area and liked to travel when he could. He had a great sense of humor and loved his dogs.

Terry was preceded in death by his grandparents Merrill and Violet Marie (Hawkins) Kingsbury, and his other grandparents William and Helen Gates.

He is survived by his wife, Cari Siebel Kingsbury; his father Robert L. Kingsbury and stepmother Jill L. Kingsbury; his mother Janet I. Gates Jones and stepfather Steve Jones; along with many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He is also survived by his son Tyler (Kaylie) Kingsbury and their daughters Zoey Marie Bolen and Nora Lynne Kingsbury; his daughter Lauren (Samuel) Carpenter and their baby granddaughter Carpenter expected soon. Terry is also survived by three stepsons from previous marriages, Tyler Davis, Cody Davis, and Douglas Buell Jr., and one stepdaughter from a previous marriage, Jessica White.

A Celebration of Life for Terry L. Kingsbury will be held on March 21 from 1:00 PM until 5:00 PM at the VFW Portage Post, 8855 S. Sprinkle Road, Kalamazoo, Michigan 49002.
