Queen Creek, AZ
Terry G. Grittman, 78, of Queen Creek, Arizona, passed away on March 5, 2026. Born in Phoenix on May 4, 1947, to Roy V. Grittman Jr. and Gean (Schneider) Grittman, Terry remained a proud Phoenician throughout his life. He served his country with courage, completing two tours in Vietnam aboard the USS Mount Katmai (AE-16) after enlisting on May 25, 1965. Following his honorable discharge, he built a successful 25-year career with the Arizona Republic/Phoenix Gazette before retiring.
Terry’s greatest passion was music. A talented singer-songwriter, he served as lead vocalist for the band SkinWitch, performing at local venues and recording the band’s self-titled album. His creativity brought joy to many, especially during family gatherings where he would serenade his grandchildren with impromptu songs, filling the room with smiles and shared singing.
Above all, Terry cherished his family. He shared 57 years of marriage with his wife Beverly, whom he married on April 16, 1969. Together they raised three children and built a large, loving family that remained one of his proudest accomplishments. He is survived by his devoted wife Beverly; his children Donald (wife Barbara), Daniel (fiancé Tracy), and Kila (husband Kevin); his grandchildren Trent, Jacob, Gabrielle, Brett, Cailin, Leilah, and Kylaya; and his sisters Cherea, Dianne, Jan, and Jamie. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Gean.
Terry will be remembered as a gentle, creative soul whose warmth and kindness touched everyone around him. His legacy endures in the hearts of those who loved him.
