Terry Hamlett ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Holden Cremation & Funeral Service - Sparta on Mar. 17, 2026.Terry Don Hamlett Sr departed this life on Wednesday, March 11, 2026 after a long illness.He was born December 30, 1945, in Clovis, New Mexico, the son of Walter Grant Hamlett, and Virgie Naomi (Roberson) Hamlett. He was the youngest of seven, and the last surviving child.Terry entered service in the United States Navy Seabees in 1966 and was honorably discharged in 1968, having spent time in Vietnam.He was a craftsman, a skilled trades instructor, an entrepreneur, and an innovator. His motto was, "I can make it work."He loved spending time with his kids and grandkids, and was an enthusiastic, lifelong fan of the Dallas Cowboys.He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, Maurice, Bobby, Billy Franklin, Theodore, and Larry, his sister Kathleen, and his beloved son, Ryan.He is survived by his daughter, Kelly Foreman, his son, Terry Hamlett Jr, daughter in law, Kathryn Hamlett, ex-wife and companion Sherry Chilton, his grandchildren, Courtney, Shelby, Colby, Caitlyn, Abigail, Zachary, and Gabriella, and eight great grandchildren, as well as his nephew, Aaron, niece, Margaret, and others.At his request, there will be no service. In lieu of a memorial, hug your loved ones. In lieu of flowers, please donate in his name to the Wounded Warrior Project.Terry's was a life well lived, and we honor him. He hardly ever spent a penny on himself, but he was generous when the people he loved had a need.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
