He was born on May 6, 1940, at home in Shelby County to the parents of Ebal Sprague Constable Burger and Clifford Burger. Terry was raised by his grandparents, Alvira and Charlie Burger after age 8. Terry was a Veritas Mason, Lodge No. 293 since 1977 and belonged to the Odd Fellows. He also was proud to be a volunteer for Audubon County since 1976. Terry passed away on March 6, 2026, at home.

Terry married Shirley Brendt in 1960, and they had four daughters together, Julie Burger Scrivner (Gary), Terri Jean Burger Foster, Shelly Fulton, and Sheila Null. Terry and Shirley later divorced. In 1976, he married Norma Nicholl and they remained in Audubon for the rest of his life unless they were wintering in Apache Junction, Arizona.

Terry and Norma welcomed a son, Terrill A. Burger (Mary). They blended their families with Terry's four daughters and with Norma's six children, Bessie Nicholl Campbell (Jack), Anita Nicholl, James LeRoy Nicholl, Jr. (Joyce), Roylene Nicholl Bald (Rick), Jeaney Nicholl Peterson (Richard), and Lisa Nicholl Miller (Craig). Terry and Norma have 27 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and many nieces and nephews.

Terry was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; his three brothers, Leslie Burger (Marilyn), William Burger, and Jared Burger (Jean).

Terry lived life with a passion through his family and his work ethic. He will be missed by so many that were not just his family, yet good friends.

Services are being planned for a later date, with burial of ashes in the Redline Cemetery at Redline, IA. A full life story to come shortly.
