Terrell Emmett "Terry" Howes

December 31, 1934 March 10, 2026

Denham Springs, LA

Terrell Emmett “Terry” Howes of Denham Springs, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2026, at the age of 91. Born on December 31, 1934, in Enon, Louisiana, to Emmett Lee Howes and Mildred Louise Pittman Howes, Terry lived a life defined by deep faith, quiet strength, and unwavering devotion to his family. He shared 50 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Sue Sullivan Howes, who remained the center of his world.

He is survived by his wife, Sue Howes, and their six children: Stephen Howes (Janice), Laura Bankston (Roger), Sidney Wall (Wendy), Brian Howes (Tracie), Vivian “DeeDee” Sullivan (Chad), and Ashley Wall True (Christian). Terry took great pride in his role as grandfather to Brittany Howes, Bradley Howes (Rebecca), Brennan Howes (Brianna), Kayla Cason (Jacob), Cole Sullivan (Ciera), Annie Bankston, Tyler Sullivan (Megan), Sidney Davis Wall, Mason True, and McKenzie Myers, and as great-grandfather to eleven great-grandchildren. He also cherished the longstanding friendship of Jesse and Debra Jones.

Terry worked for 37 years as an Operations Supervisor at the ExxonMobil Baton Rouge Refinery, where his strong work ethic and integrity earned him the lasting respect of colleagues and friends. A lifelong member of St. Francis Episcopal Church, he worshiped faithfully, served alongside many dear friends, and continually strengthened his relationship with God. He was also deeply committed to the Masonic community, having been raised a Master Mason in 1962. He served as Past Master of Trinity Union Lodge #372 F&AM in 1997 and 2010, attained the 33rd degree in the Scottish Rite, and held leadership roles in the Baton Rouge Valley, the Istrouma York Rite Masonic Bodies, the Acacia Shrine Center—where he served as Past President of the Shrine Klown Unit—and as Past Patron of Myrtle Celeste Chapter No. 231 of the Order of the Eastern Star. His life of service was guided by his favorite scripture: “And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love.” (1 Corinthians 13:13)

He was preceded in death by his parents, Emmett Lee Howes and Mildred Louise Pittman Howes; his brother, Michael Wayne Howes; and his sister-in-law, Eleanor Howes.
