Teresa Rae Moyer
January 19, 1966— March 6, 2026
New Lexington, OH
Teresa Rae Moyer, 60, of New Lexington, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly due to cardiac arrest on Friday, March 6, 2026 at the Genesis ICU in Zanesville. Her departure from this world has left a deep void felt by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
She was born one of four children on January 19, 1966, to the late Albert and Maxie (Mullins) Knox.
Teresa devoted over 25 years of her life as a teacher and student aide, passionately assisting children with learning disabilities across various school districts, including Miller Schools, Zanesville Schools, and the Muskingum Valley Educational Service Center. Her kindness and commitment to nurturing young minds showcased her deep love for education and her unwavering belief in the potential of every child she encountered. Teresa found joy in life's simpler pleasures; she had a lively spirit and shared her love for gambling with enthusiasm, particularly while at Wheeling Island Casino, where the sound of slot machines seemed to echo her love for life. Yet, beyond her roles as an educator and a gambler, Teresa was first and foremost a devoted grandmother. Being a Mammaw was her cherished title, and she embraced the role with unconditional love and dedication. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and she made it her number one priority to shower them with affection, guidance, and support.
Left behind to mourn her passing are her son, Justin (Tonya) Moyer; her siblings, Sandra Savage, Karla (Steve) Taylor, Randy (Tammy) Knox; her sister-in-law, Carrie Miller; her grandchildren, Eli Moyer, Jaxon Moyer and Rainon Moyer and her niece, Amanda Knox as well as many other nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
Teresa is preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Maxie Knox and her niece, Mandy Savage.
Family and friends are invited to gather and mourn her passing on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, starting at 11:00 AM with a funeral service at 2:00 PM at the Goebel Funeral Home, 36 N. Buckeye St., Crooksville. Teresa will then be laid to rest in Iliff Cemetery next to her parents.
