Teresa Jane Hanks Austin

Teresa Jane Austin, age 69, of Grenada, passed away at home on March 10, 2026. Born on May 1, 1956, in Grenada to Robert “Bill” O’Bryant and Margaret Dell McGarrity O’Bryant, she graduated from Charleston High School in 1974. Teresa devoted much of her life to raising her three sons and found deep joy in watching them and her grandson play ball at the Grenada Youth League. Raised in church alongside her parents, she remained connected to Stonefield Church of God and held a profound love for her grandchildren and extended family.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Hilton Edward Austin; her three sisters, Sandi Page (Daniel) of Jackson, Elissa Diane Hood of Flower Mound, Texas, and Angela Dell Smallwood (Randy McGregor) of Grenada; her three sons, Jeremy O’Bryant of Grenada, Eric Hanks (Amanda) of Grenada, and Matthew Hanks (Michael) of Broomfield, Colorado; and three grandchildren, Jordan O’Bryant, Silas O’Bryant, and Ellie Hanks.

Teresa was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Barry Steven Hanks, and her beloved grandson Jonah Steven Hanks.
