A private service will be held.There will be no formal visitation, but the family will receive visitors at the Stoneham home.Sylvia was born in Belhaven, NC to the late Ruth Credle & Jack Guthrie on January 5, 1942. She grew up in Belhaven & graduated from JA Wilkerson High School in 1960. She was married Oscar D. Stoneham of Greenville for over 50 years & the couple were together until his death in 2019.Together, Sylvia & Oscar raised four children. Sylvia was devoted to her family and served as a caregiver throughout her life. Primarily a homemaker, she spent time working at the Tastee-Freez, the Mill Outlet, and the Coffee Shop at Pitt Memorial Hospital (now ECU Health Center). She was an avid sports lover, especially for Duke basketball, to the dismay of some of her family. She leaves behind a rich legacy devoting her life to her family.She is survived by her Children: Rusty Stoneham & wife Leigh; Lisa Jones; Becky Wainright & husband David and Jenny Stoneham & wife Khrystye Haselden; Grandchildren: Wil Stoneham (Kaila), Taylor Stoneham (Denise), Macy Stoneham, Blake Jones (Akilah), Baylee Jones, Quin Wainright & Alysia Williams (Chris); Great-Grandchildren: Nina, Cameron, Jack, Nora, Kolton, Jason, Arianna, Ethan, Chloe & Everleigh; Aunt: Frances Rose; Siblings: Buddy Guthrie & David Guthrie; Several Sister-In-Laws, Nieces, Nephews and Cousins.The family wishes to extend their sincerest gratitude to Dr. Teresa Smith & the staff at Med Center One, as well as 3HC Home Health & Hospice Care.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
