Sylvia Gange ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Devlin Funeral Home - Cranberry Township on Mar. 8, 2026.Sylvia Gange passed away peacefully on March 7, 2026 at the age of 92 in Lutheran SeniorLife Passavant Community. Born on February 7, 1934 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Sylvia was a proud graduate of St Benedicts Academy and earned her diploma from Pittsburgh Hospital School of Nursing in 1954. Her nursing school yearbook describes her as "opinionated, vibrant and petite, a good thing in a little package." She attended her nursing formal dance with her soon to be husband, Joseph "Joe" Gange and they were married June 20, 1955. She began working in the obstetrical unit at Divine Providence Hospital after graduation and remained there until the birth of her oldest child, Rose Ann. As her family grew with another daughter and two sons, Sylvia poured her time and love into her home and cooking for her family. She worked for over 25 years as an OB/Gyn nurse in the office of Dr. Lawrence H. Madden until retirement in 1993.Sylvia and Joe, in their 68 ½ years of marriage, enjoyed traveling to visit family, going on cruises and church bus trips. Sylvia was a faithful member of St Gregory's Church and a member of St Ann's Guild for over 30 years. She looked forward to the yearly parish festival working in the white elephant tent.Joe and Sylvia's greatest pride was their seven grandchildren. She was affectionately known by her grandchildren as Memum. Memum and PapPap spent many of their days cheering at sporting events, dance recitals, or band and choir concerts. They spent many of their days cheering at sporting events, dance recitals, or band and choir concerts. Sylvia could be heard by other fans and players on the hockey ice yelling "Go Quigley" and ringing her bell. She was a great cook and baker who was happiest feeding everyone who entered her home. Sylvia's kitchen was well stocked so that she could make a cake at any time- with one the 5 well used bundt pans found in her kitchen. She always had a cake or brownies on the counter waiting for someone to stop by. She was heartbroken to part with her beloved pizzelle iron when she moved to her apartment in New Haven Court in 2019.Sylvia is survived by her four children, Rose Ann (Rick), Joann, Joe (Chris), and Michael (Tracy), her seven grandchildren, Melissa, Corey (Ariel), Kyle (Kaitlin), Chad (Brittany), Juliana (Dan), Anthony (Amber) and Nicholas, and her great grandson Aiden.
