She was born on October 11, 1935, to Leonard and Faye Geer.Funeral services will be held at Crestwood Funeral Home in Gadsden on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at 12:00 p.m., with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Crestwood Cemetery.Sylvia was raised in Gadsden, Alabama, where she attended Gadsden City Schools. As a young woman, she was a faithful member of Carnes Baptist Church and North Gadsden Baptist Church. She later made her home in Boaz, where she lovingly raised her family.Sylvia dedicated 32 years of service to Foodland in Albertville before retiring. She was known for her strong work ethic, kind spirit, and unwavering devotion to her family. Nothing brought her greater joy than her children and grandchildren, who loved her deeply. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.She was preceded in death by her son, Michael Strawn; her parents, Leonard and Faye Geer; and her sister, Sandra Geer Bush.She is survived by her sons, Donny (Penny) Strawn of Guntersville, Alabama; Steve Strawn of Boaz, Alabama; and Terry (Rhonda) Strawn of Boaz, Alabama; her grandchildren, Toby Strawn, Trey Strawn, Kristin Strawn, Jeff Strawn, Jason Strawn, Sam Strawn, and Luke Strawn; eight great-grandchildren; her sister, Sharon (Stanley) Geer Kidd; her brother, Rodney (Phyllis) Geer; and a host of nieces and nephews.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
