Suzanne Beam Covington, 87, of Ellenboro, died Saturday, March 7, 2026 at Fair Haven Home, Bostic.
She lived in the same house on the family farm for 87 years, the same house she was born in, an only child of Rachel Beam on Thursday, January 5, 1939. She graduated from Ellenboro School in 1957 and then went to Howard Business School in Shelby where she met her future husband Dan Covington, and they were married December 14, 1958. She attended Hopewell United Methodist Church for over 50 years. She was the secretary at East Rutherford High School for 35 years. Suzanne was an over 50 year member of Order of the Eastern Star, where she made many great friends, and served as worthy matron and Grand Esther. She loved Jesus, flowers, birds, animals, books, her grandchildren, and music.
She was preceded in death by her mother Rachel Beam, her husband Dan Covington, and an aunt, Kathleen Beam.
She is survived by her son, Jimmy Covington and his wife Kathy; her daughter, Lea Danner and her husband Neil, all of Ellenboro; her grandchildren, Cody Danner, Amanda Covington and her husband Joe Vaughan; and a great grandchild, Rory Vaughan.
A Memorial Service will be conducted at 3:00 pm Saturday, March 14, 2026 at Washburn & Dorsey Funeral Home.
The Visitation will be from 1:00 pm until 2:45 pm Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service.
