November 2, 1953— March 14, 2026
Perry, FL
Susan Diane King Lee, 72, of Perry, Florida, passed away on March 14, 2026. Born on November 2, 1953, in Perry to the late Mitchell King and Leonce O’Steen King, Susan lived a life defined by her deep faith, quiet strength, and love for her family.
A graduate of Taylor County High School, Susan attended Heritage Christian University where she studied Bible. She worked as a secretary for Proctor & Gamble in Perry, as a bank teller at Listerhill Credit Union, and as an elementary school secretary. For more than five decades, she stood faithfully beside her husband, James Lee, in his ministry, helping to establish the Greensboro church of Christ in Greensboro, Georgia, and the Eastpoint church of Christ in Eastpoint, Florida. She taught children’s Bible classes, organized Vacation Bible Schools, hosted youth events, and led a Bible correspondence course for inmates at the Franklin County Jail. Her devotion to serving the Lord remained a constant throughout her life.
Susan found joy in the natural world, tending her garden and identifying nearly every local flower and tree. She loved the music of Macy Gray and sang acapella Christian hymns in her rich alto voice. She also cherished her years as a Girl Scout troop leader for her daughter Heather’s troop, creating memorable experiences through “glam day,” knife safety lessons, and camping trips.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, James Lee; her daughters, Heather Lee Laurence and Samantha Lee; her grandchildren, Kade, Gwyn, Karys, Aiden, and Lilly; and her sisters, Madelyn Collins, Patsy Tedder, and Phyllis Yates. She was preceded in death by her brother, Gary King, Sr.
