Susan Darlene Taylor

Susan Darlene Yearout Taylor, 68, of the Leicester community, passed away on March 9, 2026. Born on January 30, 1958, in Buncombe County, she spent most of her life in Leicester, where she was deeply loved by all who knew her.

Susan devoted many years to serving others as a private caregiver, bringing compassion and kindness to every person in her care. Her gentle spirit and warm presence were like a ray of sunshine to those she touched. She found her greatest joy in gathering her family close, whether for holidays, Sunday meals, or quiet evenings at home. Her heartfelt cooking, prepared with love, became a cherished gift to family and friends alike.

A devoted Christian, Susan was a faithful member of Beulah Baptist Church in Leicester, where she worshipped and was dearly loved by her church family. Her faith guided her throughout her life, and she remained an inspiration to everyone who knew her.

Susan is survived by her husband, Donald Taylor; son, Jeffrey Surrett (Sheila); step-sons, Wendell Taylor and Barry Taylor; grandchildren, Tanner Boyd, Luke, Isaac, and Hannah Surrett; step-grandchildren, Mekenna Garland and Madison Chinea; and siblings, Ray Yearout, Joy Nash (Ervin), Lynn Roberts, and Gail Davis. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Dorothy Hensley Yearout; first husband, Ronnie Surrett; daughter, Tammy Surrett Peek; and step-daughter, Tammy Surrett Peek.
