Susan A Roney
April 15, 1946— March 3, 2026
Lowell, MI
Susan Roney (Griffin), of Lowell, Michigan, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2026 surrounded by family preceding her late husband, Charles Roney. She was born on April 15, 1946, in Detroit, Michigan. Susan lived a life defined by strength, devotion to family, and a spirit that was unmistakably her own.
One of twelve siblings, Susan grew up surrounded by the lively energy of a large family, something that shaped the deep importance she always placed on family throughout her life. She later built a large family of her own, one that remained the center of her world.
Susan was the loving mother of Kelley Boos (James), Kathleen Carpenter (Martin), Brian Kunter (Britt), and the late John Kunter III (Sarah). She was also a proud grandmother to Taylor Harmon, Kennedy Brown (Kaeleb), Zachary Harmon, Sydney Dodde, Dominic Griffin, Alexa Kunter, Austin Kunter, Gracie Griffin, Chloe Kunter, and Catlin Carpenter. She was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Justin Carpenter and Brianna Kunter.
Susan will be remembered as a stubborn and opinionated woman who loved fiercely and cared deeply for the people in her life. Her strong will, honest words, and unwavering loyalty were hallmarks of her personality. Beneath her tough exterior was a heart that was deeply devoted to her children and grandchildren, and she never hesitated to stand up for those she loved.
Proud of her Irish roots, Susan carried the spirit of Ireland with her — resilient, passionate, and family-centered. Her presence will be missed, but the love she gave and the memories she created will remain with those who knew her.
As an Irish proverb reminds us: “Death leaves a heartache no one can heal; love leaves a memory no one can steal.”
Susan’s memory will live on through the many lives she touched and the family who will carry her spirit forward.
